Share a Story~Shape a Future

It's that time of year again...another sign that Spring is right around the corner!  Share a Story ~ Shape a Future is an annual blog event to promote literacy, celebrate books, and provide resources for parents, teachers, and readers everywhere. I love this year's theme which is "Unwrapping the Gift of Literacy."

Each day a different kidlitosphere blogger serves as host for the posting of several other bloggers. Yesterday's theme was "The Power of a Book".  There so many great posts yesterday about the power books can hold in our lives.

Donalyn Miller (@donalynbooks), reflected on the power a book can have, not only in her classroom, but in her own life, at her blog,  The Book Whisperer.

Over at  The Goddess of YA Literature , Terri Lesene (@professornana) shared about the power of reading aloud, sharing, and talking about books with readers of ALL ages.  I loved her term "scattershot", throwing out loads for books to see which students will choose which books.
Paul W. Hankins (@PaulWHankins) allowed us a glimpse into his own classroom as he helped create a powerful connection between one of his students and the author a book.

Carol Rasco (RascofromRIF), CEO of Reading is Fundamental (RIF) shared about the AMAZING work RIF has been doing for 44 years on her blog, Rasco From RIF!  I have witnessed first hand the power of book lending and ownership she writes about!

If yesterday's posts are any indication, we are in for some amazing sharing this week!  Check back for more links and overviews during the week!
