It's Monday! What Are YOU Reading? February 23, 2015

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is hosted by Shelia over at Book Journey.

Be sure to also visit Jen at Teach.Mentor.Text  and Kellee at Unleashing Readers for links to all of the blogs participating in the Picture Book to YA addition of It's Monday! What Are You Reading!

February Vacation afforded me time with family, staying up late, sleeping in, and of course time for reading. One of the highlights of my week was traveling to Blue Bunny Books & Toys in Dedham, MA for my friend, Lynda Mullaly Hunt's Fish in a Tree Book Signing. This was my first visit to this fabulous independent book store, owned by twin brothers Peter & Paul Reynolds. Yes, THE Peter and Paul Reynolds! Book friends, if you are ever in the Boston area, you really must make an effort to visit their store. I felt like I had "come home"! And the place was PACKED with readers eager to meet Lynda and hear more about her newest middle grade novel; which will be featured in a upcoming post here with a giveaway, so stay tuned!  I've heard her speak about writing multiple times, and yet every.single.time. she brings me to tears. Lynda is such a champion for children and for teachers.

Some great reads this week from picture books to another adult title!

  1. I am really impressed that you are doing those pictures every day for book a day. That bookstore event sounds wonderful as does the bookstore. I will definitely have to get there if I am ever in the Boston area. Have a great reading week!

    1. Oh I do hope you get to visit the Blue Bunny at some point. It's such a wonderful environment. I'm enjoying using Instagram as a way of sharing my reading life. So far it's going well. We shall see if I can keep it up.

      Thanks for stopping by!
      Happy Reading!

  2. I'm impressed that you are doing the book a day challenge. Do picture books count? I can average around 1 novel every 2 days, but that is it!

    1. Yes, I count all books. Reading is reading. Some days are busier than others for sure. It's been fun to document my reading using Instagram.

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Reading!

  3. I enjoyed reading The Iridescence of Birds - quite special, I thought. Glad to hear about the bookstore in Boston - I was there in 2012, and didn't know it existed. Will definitely try to check it out if and when I get to visit the place again. :)

    1. I also thought The Iridescence of Birds was a real gem. It had been on my radar for quite awhile. I certainly wasn't disappointed when I finally got to it!
